LUMUT CERAMICS
Stoneware for the table, thrown one piece at a time in a small workshop north of Yogyakarta. Glazes are mixed here from local feldspar and rice-husk ash, so the colour shifts a shade with every firing. That is the point.
THE STUDIO
Lumut started in 2019 with a secondhand wheel and a test kiln on a back terrace in Sleman. We wedge, throw and trim every piece ourselves, bisque at 900°C, then glaze-fire to 1240°C. The glazes are matte mineral tones — moss, river silt, wet stone — mixed in the studio from local feldspar, ball clay and rice-husk ash. Where a piece sits in the kiln changes how the glaze breaks over an edge, so no two come out twins.
THE TABLE
Two forms we throw in every batch. Both vitrified at 1240°C, food-safe, dishwasher and microwave safe.
GUNUNG MUG 280ML
Iron-flecked stoneware, thrown with a heavy base so it holds heat. Matte moss glaze inside and out, fired to 1240°C. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
SILT PLATE SET
Four 24cm plates trimmed on the wheel and glazed in river-silt grey. Stacks flat, vitrified, dishwasher safe.
REVIEWS
Each order leaves wrapped in shredded paper and a rice-sack sleeve. This is what people wrote after unwrapping theirs.

QUESTIONS
Every piece is wedged, thrown, trimmed, glazed and fired by two people in Sleman. The thumb-print on the handle is a signature, not a defect.
